As a supplier of various stainless steel products, including marine products, we have extensive experience with fabricating methods like TIG welding. Tungsten inert gas welding, or gas tungsten arc welding, as it is also known, refers to the process of joining metal together through a special arc welding process. It uses a non-consumable tungsten electrode. “Non-consumable” just refers to the fact that these electrodes have higher melting points and do not melt into the metal during the fabrication process. An inert shielding gas, usually argon, protects the weld area and electrode from oxidation.

What Are the Benefits of TIG Welding?0

TIG welding has a unique set of advantages that make it an ideal option for specific fabrication needs. Here are a few advantages to TIG welding:

  • Increased Precision – For welding jobs that require precision, TIG welding is an excellent option. It offers greater temperature control than other methods. In addition, the arc created is transparent, which makes it easier to see the metal and the electrode in the work puddle.
  • Minimal Spatter – Because TIG welding is a more controlled process than some other types of welding, it minimizes the risk of spatter and reduces post-weld cleanup.
  • Aesthetically Pleasing – TIG welding is the best choice for fabricating projects in which aesthetics are important. It may take longer to complete, but TIG welding offers cleaner and stronger joints, and it’s perfect for thinner metals.
